Till Bamboo Turns To Gold ( Sampai Buluh Menjadi Emas) - SCENIC Creative Grant 2025 Recipients

“Sampai Buluh Menjadi Emas” (Till Bamboo Turns to Gold) is a short film (biography) project that documents and preserves the legacy of traditional bamboo handicraft-making in Kampung Batu Lunguyan, Sabah. The project focuses on the journey of the late Puan Latikoi Ambunau and her granddaughter, Emily Jeneble, in sustaining the cultural heritage of ‘Sirung’ (Dusun Mikokok headgear) weaving and bamboo craftsmanship within the Dusun Minokok community. The production also highlighted the process of transforming bamboo into high-value contemporary modern handcrafted products while capturing the challenges faced in preserving traditional knowledge among younger generations. This project fully supported & funded by Sabah Creative Economy and Innovation Centre (SCENIC) and the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation Sabah (KSTI)
