Mining activities are known to interfere with the ecosystem and the inhabitants in and around the areas where extraction activities are conducted. In order to protect the people from the hazardous emissions from the mine, Kalumbila Mine has set up a resettlement scheme. The mine management had to displace and resettle over 5 hundred households in Kalumbila North and Shinengene. ¬This was done through the establishment of an extended arm of the company called Trident Foundation, whose sole purpose is to work with the communities around the mining area.
