Alphonse Hasselmanns, the founder of the French harp school, was a famous harpist, teacher at the "Conservatoire de Paris" and composer. His compositions are reminiscent of the impressionist painters of his time. "La source" (The Source) is reminiscent of the fin de siècle's inclination towards a water idyll, a reed and river landscape populated by nymphs and fauna.
