Centerary Triptych is one of two suites in the Salisbury Centennial Collection, commissioned by Salisbury University on the occasion of their 100th anniversary. The full collection contains 3 solo movements (Centenary Triptych) and 4 duet movements (Salisbury duets). The video here is the three solo movements, premiered at Salisbury, MD on May 16, 2026 The suite is dedicated to Dr. William Folger, carillonneur at Salisbury. With many thanks to Suzanna Mallow and her team for video production. 0:00 Intro 1:45 Toccata 4:34 Intermezzo 8:47 Rhapsody The full score is available for free download on my website: https://joeybrink.com/music#compositions Program Notes: The iconic pergola paths and gardens of Salisbury University inspired Toccata, the first movement of the suite. But rather than surveying the landscape as a whole, the music takes the perspective of a vine, steadfast and unabating as it doggedly climbs a trellis and adorns the canopy, reaching higher and grasping for more. Intermezzo follows the Wicomico River that runs through the center of Salisbury. Inspired by an iconic carillon composition by Robert Byrnes of a similar title—On the San Antonio River—the music gently flows and ripples, peacefully carrying us along. While Byrnes’ river turns stormy and wild, this Intermezzo remains calm and introspective. Rhapsody is an exuberant and jubilant finale to the suite. The music begins rather stately but quickly develops to become more grand. The majestic melodies then give way to something more gentle and swaying, before erupting into a raucous and rhythmic dance. At last, the music returns to the opening motif and then erupts into an exhilarating finale.
