Harvesting Firewood at Bushcraft Camp - Axework, Bucksaw, and Fire Cooking

To be honest, when I came out here I was not planning on making a video but I started filming a bit and decided to share with you guys my process of getting a fire going. Dead standing trees work great for firewood as they are super dry because they are off the damp wet ground. By harvesting out the dead stand, the living trees have more room to grow and get access to more sunlight. I always carry with me my pouch full of dry tinder - which mostly consists of birch bark, a little fat wood, dry cedar shavings... I also keep a small supply of dryer lint in my pouch for those really wet days when I need to catch a quick spark. Tonight on the menu we had cauliflower coconut soup with potatoes, carrots, and onions. We topped it off with a generous bunch of fresh dill and my homemade baked bread.
