New Firefighters Tackle Rigorous Training Academy

PANORAMA CITY – Firefighting requires extreme physical fitness and sharp mental alertness. Tough standards are a must and may be a matter of life or death. Only a small percentage of candidates make it through the grueling LAFD Drill Tower training academy. This high level of excellence is part of what makes the Los Angeles City Fire Department one of the best fire service agencies in the world. It is with great honor that we congratulate the members of the Los Angeles Fire Department's Recruit Training Academy Class 22-3 as they celebrate their hard-earned graduation on March 9, 2023. Friends, family and fellow LAFD firefighters stood proud as these new recruits became proud probationary members of the LAFD. City of Los Angeles Fire Chief Kristin Crowley presented their badges. Other civic and community leaders welcomed these newest members to the department and the Los Angeles Firemen’s Relief Association, the umbrella organization that runs our charity, in a ritual filled ceremony. #lafd #fireacademy For the brave men and women of the LAFD, should anything ever happen to them during a lifetime of service, the Widows, Orphans & Disabled Firefighter’s Fund is here to fulfill their needs. As a nonprofit 501(c)(3) charity founded more than a century ago, our organization is dedicated to helping the families of LAFD firefighters facing a serious crisis, such as being injured or killed in the line of duty. The needs of firefighters are unique because the profession poses many dangers and consequences. Thanks to kind and generous contributions, our firefighter charity, the Widows, Orphans & Disabled Firefighter’s Fund makes a significant impact, providing assistance with items such as basic living expenses, health insurance premiums, durable medical equipment, and awarding memorial scholarships to children of firefighters who died while active duty. #LosAngelesFirefighterCharity
