I came to Dead Space as a Resident Evil fan. I wasn't sure it would give me the horror I wanted, but once I got into it, the gameplay and story kept me hooked.
Darkking Forever joins me for this full Dead Space (2008) retrospective. It's one of his favourite games, and we're breaking down Isaac's journey through the Ishimura: the combat, the ship, the characters and the ending. The original character scenes get room to play, so you can hear the game for yourself.
FULL STORY SPOILERS for the original Dead Space (2008). The main gameplay comes from my own completed Xbox 360 playthrough. Supplemental escape and final shuttle footage comes from a PC capture by Loque, credited below. This retrospective covers the original game.

Changes: two excerpts totaling about 40.27 seconds in this edit: the 27-second final shuttle scene and a 13.27-second escape passage under Darkking’s ending discussion. Both were cropped to remove the FPS overlay, upscaled from 720p to 1080p and conformed from 29.97 fps to 30 fps. The shuttle excerpt includes one final aftermath frame held for 1/30 second. Original audio was resampled. Source audio is muted under added narration and restored for the foreground shuttle scene; attribution is added. These supplemental PC excerpts are separate from the main Xbox 360 playthrough.
