Oddity is a game I, and many others, have been waiting for for an exceptionally long time. But I think maybe it's time we come clean to the truth of the matter. Carrd (Open for Commissions!) - https://anxious.carrd.co/ ------- In this video, I go over the development of Oddity, originally known as Mother 4. The game began development 18 years ago, first announced on a post on starmen.net. It quickly spread as people became extremely interested in the prospect of a new Mother game, even if it was by fans. However, come 2017, Nintendo would begin DCMA'ing various fan games, resulting in the heads of the team deciding to rebrand the game to Oddity. This caused a split in the team, as many were against the idea of creating an entirely original game due to the scope that it would take in comparison to a fan work. As well, the developers would end up changing their development software to Game Maker, completely restarting progress on development. It was later discovered in 2026 that official merchandise of Oddity was being sold without artists consent or knowledge, resulting in yet another giant divide in the team, and the art director, Maxxis, leaving the team. This ultimately seems to be the death nail for the game, and it's likely for the best to look elsewhere for the mythical "Mother 4."
