This is part of a series of panel discussions exploring the role of libraries, the work of librarians, curators and archivists, and the stories behind collections. From influential women who shaped the Library to ongoing efforts to address gaps in collections, these conversations examine the challenges, achievements, responsibilities for libraries. Participants also ask what the next 200 years could hold for the State Library of NSW. In connection with Pride Month, this recorded event explores the Library’s ongoing work to better represent LGBTQIA+ communities within its collections. This ranges from uncovering incredible untold stories to proactive collecting projects aimed at addressing historical gaps. It looks at reinterpretations reckoning with lives and stories that have been denied, ignored or hidden. Dr Sophie Bekir-Robinson leads a conversation with Library experts Margy Burn, Bruce Carter and Sam Cooling about visibility, inclusion and cultural memory — discussing achievements to date, projects currently underway, and the work still to come.
