Following Le soleil revient sur Nice (The Sun Returns to Nice), the grandmother’s song, and Tu ne m’as jamais demandé (You Never Asked Me), her daughter’s reply, here are the grandchildren’s voices. Set to a familiar melody, reimagined within the vibrant world of 2010s indie electropop, they recount another kind of family wound: that of growing up at a distance from a grandmother they would have liked to know better. Caught up against their will in their parents’ conflicts, they seek neither to assign blame nor to force reconciliation. They simply miss the Sundays, the holidays and the memories they never shared. A bittersweet song about family ties, missed opportunities and the stories we inherit without having lived them ourselves.
