The Steele County Free Fair is held each year in August, a couple of weeks before the Minnesota State Fair. It is the largest county fair in the state of Minnesota. The Steele County Free Fair features amusement park rides at the midway and American fair food such as corn dogs, mini donuts, and cheese curds. The fair also has exhibits featuring farm animals such as rabbits, pigs, and cows and many old tractors on display. A historical village with buildings from the 1800s is also on the fairgrounds.
