The Old Norse word for eagle, ǫrn (modern Icelandic: örn), descends from the Proto-Germanic arô the same root that gave us our modern "eagle." For the Vikings, the eagle was a creature of the high sky and the battlefield: as a carrion bird it feasted on the fallen, so to "feed the eagle" was a poetic way of saying you had slain your enemies. In the skalds' kennings, ravens and eagles circle over the carnage the closest things the Norse had to omens of fate and war. • Artist: Norse Echo • Title: Örninn Flýgr (The Eagle Flies) • Language: Old Norse (10th-century reconstructed phonetics) • Genre: Viking Music / Nordic Dark Ambient / Epic Battle Hymn © All music on this channel is an original creation by Norse Echo and is protected under YouTube copyright law. #VikingMusic #EpicVikingMusic #OldNorse #NorseMusic #Valhalla #ValhallaCalls I am truly grateful for your time listening to my music, and for every like 👍, heartfelt comment ✏️, and subscription 🔔.
