On Day 9 of Child Abuse Prevention Month, we honor the resilient and raw journey of Regina Louise, a young Black girl who was shuffled through over 30 foster homes — unseen, unheard, and rejected by the system that promised to protect her. Her story was so powerful, it became a Lifetime film: “I Am Somebody’s Child.” But this isn’t just a movie — it’s a mirror to what’s still broken today. In this episode, Lenean walks us through Regina’s truth: A system that told her she was “too damaged to be adopted. A woman named Jeanne who did want her — and was denied. A legal process that silenced love, and a girl who never stopped hoping. A redemption arc where, after 30 years, she was finally adopted as an adult. Because every child deserves more than a placement — they deserve to be wanted. Call to Action: Watch “I Am Somebody’s Child” and discuss it with a friend, youth group, or classroom. Support Black-led foster care advocacy orgs Write a letter to a child in care. Take the Stewards of Children Training — because recognizing pain can lead to real prevention. Say this out loud today: “Every child deserves more than safety. They deserve to be chosen.” #ReginaLouise #IAmSomebodysChild #FosterCareAwareness #Day9Reflections #ChildAbusePreventionMonth #Fly444Protects #BeginWithin #WeRaiseTruthSpeakers #AdoptionIsLove #EveryChildDeservesToBeClaimed #HealingOutLoud #JusticeForFosterYouth
