At the Retina Society 59th Annual Scientific Meeting in Los Angeles, Carl Regillo, MD, discusses the primary efficacy results of the phase 3 LUGANO trial, which compared the vorolanib intravitreal insert (EYP-1901) dosed every 6 months with aflibercept 2 mg every 8 weeks in nAMD. He reviews why the trial missed its visual noninferiority endpoint despite comparable anatomic outcomes, the subgroup of patients who lost vision from causes unrelated to nAMD, and the post hoc and geographic atrophy analyses. 0:00 – Trial design, primary outcome, and patients with vision loss unrelated to nAMD 6:14 – Geographic atrophy analyses, post hoc results, and the upcoming LUCIA readout #ModernRetina #RetinaSociety2026 #nAMD #WetAMD #AMD #Retina #Ophthalmology #LUGANO #ClinicalTrials
