Forgotten is a lament about love, loss, memory, and learning to carry grief before God. Sometimes remembering hurts. Sometimes realizing that we have forgotten for a little while hurts in a different way. But forgetting a moment does not mean that love has disappeared. The song draws especially from Psalm 88, one of Scripture’s darkest laments. Even surrounded by sorrow and loneliness, the psalmist was still talking to God. Sometimes prayer has many words.
