Join us for a relaxing walking tour through the city centre of Bolzano, also known as Bozen in German, the capital of South Tyrol in northern Italy.
Located in the heart of the Alps, Bolzano is a fascinating city where Italian and German-speaking cultures meet. With its charming historic streets, beautiful architecture and distinctive blend of Mediterranean and Central European influences, the city offers a very different atmosphere from many other Italian destinations.
Bolzano is also widely known as the Gateway to the Dolomites, making it a convenient base for exploring the surrounding mountains and nearby Alpine villages. Beyond mountain adventures, the area is also famous for its vineyards and the scenic South Tyrolean Wine Road.
🚗 *Important Travel Information – ZTL (Limited Traffic Zone)*
If you are planning to visit Bolzano by car, please be aware that parts of the historic city centre are designated as ZTL (Zona a Traffico Limitato), meaning vehicle access is restricted and monitored.
Driving into a restricted area without the appropriate authorization may result in a fine. If your accommodation is located within the ZTL, contact your hotel or host in advance to check whether they can arrange the necessary access authorization.
If you do not have permission to enter, consider parking outside the restricted area and exploring the city centre on foot.

🚌 *Public Transport in Bolzano and South Tyrol*
If you prefer exploring the region by public transport, there are several travel passes worth looking into.
The Südtirol Guest Pass is provided free of charge by participating accommodation providers and covers many public transport services throughout South Tyrol.
Alternatively, the Mobilcard offers unlimited travel on included public transport for 1, 3 or 7 consecutive days.
Planning to visit Ortisei in Val Gardena? Bus Line 350 connects Bolzano with the Val Gardena area, including Ortisei. Some visitors may be eligible for a complimentary Guest Pass through their accommodation, so check the conditions before purchasing your tickets.
