Check out https://www.engineer4free.com/structu... for more free structural analysis tutorials. The course covers shear force and bending moment diagram review, method of superposition, moment area method, force method, displacement method, slope deflection method, and 3 moment equation. TYPO: the thetaA in the expression for Mbc should be thetaC. thetaA is equal to zero, thetaC is not. This means that the correct term thetaC is not to be crossed out. The overall expression Mbc is still equal to zero. The reason Mbc is zero is because if you take a virtual cut infinitesimally close to C, the couple caused by Cy and the internal shear tends to zero, therefore no moment is caused by that couple at C, and so there will be no internal moment that needs to counteract it, ie, internal moment at C is zero, and internal moment at C is Mcb, so Mcb = 0. This tutorial goes over the general steps required in the slope deflection method for indeterminate beams. I should note that at the end where we get two unknowns / 2x2 matrix, that is because the example problem has 2 degrees of kinematic indeterminacy / two unknown slopes. There could be more or less depending on the given problem. If you found this video helpful, please consider supporting my work on Patreon:   / engineer4free   Looking for software?
