The islanders welcome the soaked, exhausted survivors with warmth and hospitality. When Paul is bitten by a viper, the crowd watches for his collapse — but nothing happens. God’s protection becomes a quiet testimony that opens doors for ministry. Paul then heals the father of Publius, the island’s chief official, and soon the whole island brings their sick to him. What began as disaster becomes a season of healing, witness, and grace. Months later, Paul finally arrives in Rome — not as a defeated prisoner, but as a messenger carrying the gospel into the heart of the empire. Under guard, he continues teaching, welcoming all who come to hear, and proclaiming the kingdom of God with boldness. The journey that seemed broken by storms and setbacks is revealed as God’s path for the gospel to reach the world’s center. This passage reminds us that God’s mission moves forward through storms, detours, delays, and even chains — and that His purposes reach exactly where He intends.
