Join us on an unforgettable day trip to Green Island, a beautiful coral cay in Australia’s Great Barrier Reef Marine Park, located near Cairns. Green Island is surrounded by coral reefs and combines white sandy beaches, tropical rainforest, and colourful underwater marine life in one place.
We travelled by boat from Cairns to Green Island and explored its incredible natural beauty. Our glass-bottom boat experience gave us a close view of coral gardens, colourful fish, and the amazing underwater world of the Great Barrier Reef—without getting into the water.
Our guide explained that spotting sea turtles from a boat can be difficult because they may move away from engine noise. Snorkelling or swimming is the best way to see the corals, fish, turtles, and reef life more clearly and closely.
After the reef experience, we walked through Green Island’s peaceful rainforest trails and enjoyed the stunning beaches and island scenery. Green Island is a special place where you can experience both a tropical rainforest and the Great Barrier Reef in one unforgettable visit.

For the closest and most colourful Great Barrier Reef experience, underwater diving or snorkelling is the best option. It allows you to explore the coral reefs up close and clearly see colourful fish, sea turtles, and many other beautiful marine creatures in their natural underwater world.
