Fort Wayne Bike Trails | Pufferbelly Trail

The city of Fort Wayne, IN has been constructing paved walking/running/biking trails through it's city parks and along it's riverbanks since the 1970s. The 1974 Fort Wayne Park Master Plan Phase I included the first formal mention of proposed trails for the community, with a goal of creating 17 miles of bicycle trail. Now with a network of more than 120 miles of multiuse trails, Fort Wayne's growing trail system provides trail goers with numerous choices for walking/running/cycling along rivers and green spaces. Two sections of the Pufferbelly Trail have been constructed: 4.75 miles from Washington Center Rd. north to Life Bridge Church and 2.25 miles from Lawton Park north to Lima Rd. and Ice Way. Eventually, this trail will extend from the northern edge of Allen County south 13 miles where it will connect with the River greenway located downtown. This trail is unique, as it's one part of a State Visionary Trail which, upon completion, will stretch 80 miles and run from Pokagon State Park in Angola to Ouabache State Park in Bluffton. Salomon Farm Loop is a 1.65 mile loop located at Salomon Farm Park and is the heaviest used trail in the system, averaging 550 users a day. Located by the Parkview YMCA on the northside of Fort Wayne, the Salomon Farm Loop connects to the Pufferbelly Trail on the east side of the park.
