Band-Aid on a Broken Bone

It's not that the wound won't close. It's that we keep picking at it ourselves. Every time we pull the plaster off to check — every time we reopen what's starting to knit — we wonder why it's still bleeding. Some things just need to be left alone to heal. Put the plaster back on. And leave it be.
