We often become emotionally attached to artists, musicians, actors and creators whose work means something to us. But what happens when we discover something disturbing about the person behind the work? Can we continue appreciating what they created without excusing or supporting their behaviour? This raises a difficult question about the relationship between art and the artist. Should the creator’s actions change how we experience their work? Or can a piece of art have value independent of the person who made it? There may not be an easy answer.
