JUN TANAKA FROM OSAKA | WHOOSIS RADIO VOL.122

Takeover by Jun Tanaka WHOOSIS RADIO VOL.122 proudly welcomes Osaka’s own DJ/producer Jun Tanaka—whose Tokyo-to-Paris spirit is fueling a global music uprising centered in Japan. Jun Tanaka has been repeatedly invited onto Soulection’s famed Los Angeles radio show and even joined forces with Soulection members Joe Kay and StarRo to ignite an Asia-wide tour. Through these experiences, he’s already earned legendary status in Japan’s—and indeed all of Asia’s—music circles. Starting as a club DJ in his early teens, Jun Tanaka honed his craft on Osaka’s dance floors, developing an unshakable command of live energy. Whether it’s Hip-Hop, R&B, Electronica, Afro, Baile Funk or Amapiano, he weaves each style into breathtaking live mixes that spark the crowd’s soul. In 2018, he ventured solo to Paris, plunged into Europe’s kaleidoscopic electronic scenes, and felt the spark of inspiration ignite. There, he taught himself DTM (desktop music production) and began sculpting his own EDITs and REMIXes. By deconstructing and reassembling tracks from trailblazers like Young Thug, Frank Ocean, Usher, and Cassie, Jun bridges soulful Hip-Hop and R&B with the sun-kissed rhythms of Afrobeats, Baile Funk and Amapiano—crafting a futuristic, irresistibly groovy dance-floor force. The moment his creations hit SoundCloud, they set the world alight.
