In the next phase of Afghan Sikh wars (1801-1819), Maharaja of Punjab, Ranjit Singh fought with Afghan adversaries of Durrani Empire. This time, Sikh Confederacy had dissolved paving way for the Khalsa Raj of Maharaja Ranjit Singh. On the other side of the border, Mahmood Shah Durrani became the Afghan King, with Fateh Muhammad Khan Barakzai as his Wazir running the affairs of the Kingdom. However, this Durrani Empire had many power centres while infighting and intrigues of the court continued. Afghan Durrani Empire and Khalsa Raj of Maharaja Ranjit Singh also joined their forces for a campaign in Kashmir. However, these two powers soon came into a conflict at the Battle of Attock in 1813. It was followed by Ranjit Singh's take over of Multan in 1818 and then his final campaign in Kashmir in 1819. These three military campaigns of Khalsa army set the stage of Ranjit Singh's powerful and rich rule in Punjab. This video narrates these three campaigns that set the foundation of Khalsa sarkar from 1801 to 1819. In the early 19th century, the power dynamics of the Afghan-Sikh wars dramatically shifted. As the Sikh Confederacy dissolved, Maharaja Ranjit Singh rose in Punjab, while Mahmud Shah Durrani took Kabul. Internal strife weakened the Durrani Empire, and Ranjit Singh unified Sikh misls, declaring himself Maharaja of Punjab in 1801. Strategic battles in Multan, Attock, Kashmir, and Peshawar shaped the region's future. The Treaty of Amritsar (1809) secured peace with the British, letting Ranjit Singh focus westward, reclaiming key Afghan-held regions like Kasur and Jammu. This video uncovers the turning points, alliances, and betrayals that redefined Sikh-Afghan ties. Watch as we explore the Battle of Attock (1813), Battle of Kashmir (1814 and then 1819) and Multan in 1818. This gripping chapter in South Asian history highlights Ranjit Singh's brilliance, the Durranis' fall, and the rise of the Khalsa Raj.
