CEC Kargil Urges Centre to Address Genuine Demand for Sankoo District

CEC Kargil Urges Centre to Grant District Status to Sankoo KARGIL: Chief Executive Councillor , LAHDC Kargil, today held a press conference regarding the long-pending demand for granting district status to Sankoo Sub-Division Addressing the media, the CEC urged the Central Government to consider the demand of the people of Sankoo, stating that the area fulfills major criteria for district status, including population, geographical area backwardness . He said that representatives of political parties across Sankoo have come together on a common platform to support the demand for granting district status to Sankoo. The CEC also emphasized that delimitation should be carried out strictly on thebasis of population ensuring fair political representation. He further informed that a joint delegation representing political parties of Sankoo will meet the *Chief Secretary and Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh on September 17 to raise the demand for Sankoo district status. The CEC appealed to the Central Government to give due consideration to what he described as the genuine and long-pending demand of the people of Sankoo
