Arcana [~4 min Extreme Demon] Full Showcase

Verification:    • Arcana by GDMonkey40 [VERIFIED]   Level ID: 148909133 So I was listening to some Xtrullor bangers during the spring of 2026, and when I heard this song, I really wanted to make a level with it, representing it as a whole. Began building the layout but could only finish just the first few parts before my motivation shifted elsewhere. A year after I decided to continue the project, and finished the layout. Almost 4 minutes of gameplay, involving a drop filled with 4x speed section didn't feel so comfortable to start decorating. Not only that, but I wanted the beginning of the level to represent some kind of beautiful fantasy landscape, and I had no experience in art style, or making anything realistc in general. Watched a rock tutorial by Bop, and tried to build my own rocks even though they sucked. That's how the first section started. I took some inspiration from Metamorphosis for the 2nd part, but building it was not fast at all, and the fact that I'd only finished like 10% of the whole level didn't give me motivation either. However, I pushed through it, and even though single details looked insanely bad, I didn't have enough experience to make anything better, and just rolled with it. The dragon asset used in the purple drop part is made by ‪@BiskotosGD‬, as well as the endscreen. He somehow managed to make it exactly as I had imagined it in my mind. As the level started just by listening the song, I wanted to represent it as well as I could. There were 2 main themes I could pick. The song starts with purely orchestral elements and I could imagine a beautiful landscape whenever I listened to it. However at the halfway point, it starts to introduce a darker reality, some kind of mysterious world. And that's what I interpret the song name to mean. "Arcana", means literally secrets or mysteries, or knowledge only revealed to few people, hence why I used the question marks as air deco elements or details at the later parts. This is why I also think using the song's name is suficient for this level, as they're in my eyes just a different aspect of the same creation. (and no, I'm NOT saying this as I would own the song or anything, I'm saying this from the level's perspective. The actual song has nothing to do with the level. The level is instead made purely representing the song) The gameplay at the end might also be a bit more awkward, and I like to use the fact that the song feels more uncomfortable as an excuse to not fix those few clicks xD Overall this took me about 300 hours to build, spread across 1.5 years, and I think it turned out great, even though some parts are not my favourite. And yeah, MASSIVE shoutout for the artist of the song, Xtrullor.
