The tragic death of 15-year-old Ghanaian boy Javits Frimpong in the Bronx, New York, has sparked an extraordinary wave of sympathy and support from communities in America and Ghana. Following his death, thousands of people have rallied around his family. A GoFundMe campaign organised to support the family has raised more than $211,000 at the time of our check, while members of the Bronx community gathered for an emotional candlelight vigil in his memory. New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani has also spoken about the tragedy, and Ghana’s Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has conveyed President Mahama’s condolences to the family. But amid the emotional tributes and growing calls for justice, an important question remains: have the people responsible been arrested? As of the latest reports available, police had not confirmed any arrests and were still searching for three suspects.
