This song was written during a very significant season of my life as a new Christian, way back in 1988. Naalala ko, I was so eager to prove to the Lord that I truly loved Him, not because of the blessings, material things, or what He could give me, but simply because He is more than enough for me. Looking back now, I realize na bata pa ang faith ko noon, but the desire of my heart was already there: to love God for who He is, and not only for what He can do. Over the years, I have experienced blessings, disappointments, struggles, periods of waiting, and seasons when life did not turn out as I expected. But through all of these, God continued to teach me that He Himself is my greatest treasure. What makes this song even more meaningful to me is that many people have been blessed by it. During our WIN Cainta and WIN Pasig days, our worship teams would sing this song and, as they would say, “own” the message as their declaration of faith. It became more than just a song we sang: it became a personal testimony of many worshipers who were learning to trust God and find their joy in Him. I have come to understand that true joy is not found in having everything I want, but in knowing that I have Jesus, and He is enough. I believe the joy He has given me, the joy that has set me free from fear and worry, is not dependent on my circumstances. It is a joy that He Himself sustains. After all these years, I am still learning the same lesson I was beginning to learn in 1988: God is enough. He has always been enough, and He will always be enough.
