Remnants of a Time

Remnants of a Time Sometimes, inspiration comes from the most unexpected places. The idea for Remnants of a Time came to me during an ordinary day at work in Detroit. I walked into a store to do my job, only to discover that the building was once a bank built in 1927. What amazed me was how much of its original architecture was still there. The beautiful chandelier, intricate carvings, detailed stonework, and craftsmanship had survived for nearly a century. It made me wonder how much time, patience, and pride went into creating something so beautiful. As I continued driving through Detroit, I noticed the same attention to detail in the historic homes and buildings around me. And I couldn't help comparing them to much of what we build today. We have better technology and incredible talent, yet so much of modern construction seems focused on speed, efficiency, and profit rather than beauty and longevity. This song isn't about criticizing modern builders or rejecting progress. It's about questioning what we've stopped prioritizing. When those old buildings are finally gone, we can try to recreate them, but we'll never replace their history or the hands that originally shaped them. Remnants of a Time is about appreciating what generations before us created and wondering what our own generation will leave behind. And to think, this entire song started because I walked into a store and happened to look up.
