This video is part of "Salsa Piano Basics" series.
In this video, I'm going to show you how to play basic 4-notes montuno and their application to 4 songs, "Lalala," "Tructu," "Cachondea," and "La Malanga." If you don't know the concept of the "2-3 and 3-2 clave beats," make sure to check out my video, "How to Play Salsa Clave" first!

🎹 SUGGESTION FOR A PIANO OR KEYBOARD
In my experience, Roland, Yamaha, and Casio are all solid choices! I’ve used Casio Previa before and now play Yamaha (P-125, previous version of P-225) because it fits my budget and is easy to bring to gigs. If budget and extra weight weren’t a concern, I’d pick the Roland model which has a better sound! 😊 (but the high-end model Rolands often don’t come with the music sheet stand, so be aware!)
I prefer weighted keys because I’m used to the feel of an acoustic piano, but keyboards with weighted keys are usually heavier to carry and more expensive than non-weighted ones. You might prefer a non-weighted keyboard touch—try a few if you can! If you also need a stand, sustain pedal, and bench, check the bundle options. They may save you a little money! 🪑🎶

Warning:
Make sure to warm up before the practice and stretch after your practice. Avoid straining your hands, arms, and shoulders by excessive practicing. Remember, doing short practices often throughout the day is better than doing a long practice one time a day!
