Second last concert of Jagjit Singh ji On 18 September 2011, Jagjit Singh ji performed his second last concert at the lawns of Noor Mahal Palace Hotel, at Karnal Haryana. In fact, there is a room named after Jagjit Singh at Noor Mahal Palace Hotel, as his second-last performance before he passed away, was at Noor Mahal Palace Hotel. Jagjit Singh ji stayed in the same room (it is available at whooping 1.5 lacs per night.... you'll need to check with the hotel for best rates :-)) It was organized by Haryana Institute of Fine Arts (HIFA), established in 1994, is a certified signature in art, culture, and co-related affairs. Registered under the trust act, Karnal-based HIFA is a voluntary, apolitical, non-government and non-commercial organization. List of Jagjit Singh ji's last concerts: 1) 16th September 2011 at Nehru Science Centre in Mumbai, 2) 17th September 2011 at Siri Fort Auditorium in New Delhi, 3) 18th September 2011 at Noor Mahal Palace Hotel in Karnal, Haryana (Second Last Concert), 4) 20th September 2011 at The Indian Public School in Dehradun (Last Concert). "We have sent a written appeal to the vice-chancellor of KU to set up a chair in the name of Jagjit Singh. His immense contribution to Indian light music is both matchless and exemplary," said Piush Kumar, secretary of HIFA. "Jagjit was a KU student and he had done his post-graduation from there," Kumar added. Besides, HIFA, which works under the chairmanship of Former Haryana chief minister, Shri Bhupinder Singh Hooda, he also decided to institute a national award of Rs 1,00,000 in the name of Jagjit Singh in the field of Indian light music.
