They Turned a 300-ACRE FARM Into THIS GARDEN?!? — Ep. 393

Tucked into the rolling countryside of Marcellus, New York, Sycamore Hill Gardens is a remarkable 300-acre garden and landscape that has evolved over more than 35 years from a former farm into an extraordinary collection of garden “rooms,” mature plantings, natural landscapes, and unexpected architectural details. Created with a spirit of experimentation and discovery, the garden blends horticulture, art, landscape design, and the surrounding countryside in ways that constantly invite you to look a little closer. In this tour, we’ll explore the story behind Sycamore Hill, wander through some of its most distinctive spaces, and discover how decades of thoughtful planting and creative experimentation have transformed this once-working farm into a truly unforgettable garden. 00:00:00 - Overview of Sycamore Hill Gardens 00:00:57 - The History of Sycamore Hill 00:03:37 - 1800s Barn 00:07:55 - Start of Gardens 00:09:55 - Weeping Whimsy 00:11:00 - The Maze 00:11:45 - Bicentennial Tree 00:13:45 - Planting Style 00:15:00 - Acer griseum & pond 00:18:00 - Is the Garden Manageable? 00:19:00 - Waterbodies 00:21:00 - Vistas & Borrowed Views 00:22:00 - Sunken Rock Garden 00:24:00 - Relics 00:26:00 - Botanical Tours 00:29:00 - Statuary 00:31:00 - Spirea 00:34:00 - Crabapples for Mother's Day 00:36:00 - Charming Veggie Patch 00:36:50 - Old Building 00:37:00 - Weeping Blue Spruce Dragon 00:40:00 - Forest Path 00:42:00 - Koi Path 00:44:50 - Stone work 00:47:00 - Pick a charm 00:47:30 - Days and Hours of Operation To visit: https://www.sycamorehillgardens.com/ Join this channel to get access to perks:    / @flockfingerlakes   -------------------------------- 😎 COOL STUFF ↴ -------------------------------- WEBSITE: ➨ https://www.flockfingerlakes.com OTHER CHANNEL ➨ Plant One On Me:    / summerrayneoakes   -------------------------------- 💚FOLLOW/SUB ↴ -------------------------------- ▶ Subscribe to YouTube: https://bit.ly/3sJ7Alo ▶ Instagram+IGTV:   / flockfingerlakes   ▶ Facebook: @flockfingerlakes ▶ Twitter: @flockny   / flockny   ▶ TikTok: @flockfingerlakes   / flockfingerlakes   -------------------------------- 😄SUPPORT ↴ -------------------------------- if you like this episode and the others, then be sure to “Subscribe” to this channel and hit the Notifications bell.
