1979: Make Your Own Occasional Tables | Make Your Own Furniture | BBC Archive

David Day and Albert Jackson present a show about homemade furniture. In this edition, they demonstrate how you can build occasional tables, from a simple glass and metal table you can make in 20 minutes, to a more sophisticated coffee table design in solid mahogany. Nicholas J Frewing, the designer of the coffee table, takes David through the construction process. The main technique employed is the dowel joint, and Albert has tips to ensure you get a solid connection every time. Last, but not least, Albert shows how he made a fetching garden table out of an old sewing-machine. Clip taken from Make Your Own Furniture, originally broadcast on BBC One, 21 October, 1979.
