Hayley Williams released her third solo album "Ego Death at a Bachelorette Party" in 2025 to much critical acclaim, but it took until this year for the tour to finally kick off. This was the first night of three sold-out shows at the Hammerstein Ballroom. As expected, the demand for tickets was insane, as she was playing much smaller venues than she realistically had an audience for. While I do like that approach, it did lead to me originally not being able to score tickets. (I had a super low queue number but Ticketmaster kicked me out, stating they noticed suspicious behavior on my account and asked me to log out and back in). Up until 2 weeks ago, I was pretty sure I wasn't going to be able to attend, until a friend unfortunately couldn't make it and sold his to me. Well its the day of the show, and I made the decision against sleeping on the street overnight (it was down to freezing), and just showing up early at 7AM. Some friendly fans were keeping the line organized numbering people's hands and taking down names. I was number 31 as a bunch of people had either slept overnight in tents or in their car, or just arrived earlier. Preparing for the colder forecast, I made sure to bundle up and that made the 11 hour wait til doors open relatively easy. The hard work paid off and I was able to get a barricade spot off to the left with my friend Selena, who I met on the line. Hayley was serving on her vocals, but having seen her many times in the past, I expected that. She was a force of nature behind the microphone and demanded our attention. The setlist was great, however all the songs only came off the latest album with not one single song from Petals for Armor or Flowers for Vases. That's unfortunate, as many of those songs haven't gotten it's time to shine after the initial Hayley Williams solo tour was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. My friends and I were able to snag tickets for that tour, which would have been at Brooklyn Steel. I can only hope that one day those songs will have justice been done to them in live performance.
