Panel Discussion: Fashion on Trial: the French Policy in Action (ON 5th JULY2025)

What happens when fashion policy moves from paper to practice? This panel discussion explored France’s evolving policy landscape and what it means for the fashion industry, brands, consumers, and the wider movement for a more responsible fashion system. Bringing together perspectives from Fashion Revolution France, Slow Fashion Movement, and Slow Fashion France, the conversation examined how regulation can translate into real change across the fashion value chain. The panel unpacked the opportunities and challenges of the French approach, including the role of policy in addressing overconsumption, encouraging more responsible business practices, and reshaping the relationship between fashion, people, and the planet. The discussion brought together Catherine Dauriac and Mathilde Pousseo from Fashion Revolution France, Puja Mj from Slow Fashion Movement, Global, and Chloé from Slow Fashion France, creating a cross-movement dialogue between policy, advocacy, education, and grassroots action. The session invited participants to look beyond the headlines and ask a bigger question: Can policy truly transform fashion, and what will it take to turn regulation into meaningful systemic change?
