A Day with Kitty Black Perkins (2026)

A look at our dazzling, peachy, enlightening, and community-centered Day with Kitty Black Perkins, which exceeded expectations in so many ways. We are thrilled to share that October 10 will be known as Kitty Black Perkins Day here in Spencer, NC! A huge thank-you to the fans who helped us plan this event and showcase Kitty's work as Mattel's first and only Chief Designer, which spans hundreds of unique doll designs from Black Barbie to Peaches N Cream to celebrity dolls, holiday Barbie, and Shani and friends. And our gratitude to Kitty and her dear friend Todd Stephens of Spartanburg County Public Libraries for the inspiration, insight, and fellowship.
