It's a new discover, but not by me! This one was found and donated by Ced Connolly, a legendary amateur palaeontologist in South Wales who discovered and collected the Llanfallteg Biota: a Middle Ordovician site of exceptional preservation that I'll talk more about soon! This new sponge is rather remarkable, and ties in beautifully with an ongoing research programme that we have in Wales and China on the timing of origin (and diversification) of the hexactinellids ('glass sponges). Come on in for a quite bit of excitement... This is the most relevant previous video:    • The Anji Biota: the secret history of glas...   And papers: https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/a... https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/a... Presented by Joe Botting, independent palaeontologist and Honorary Research Fellow at the National Museum Wales. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Channel Membership: to support the channel for £3.99 per month, please investigate the 'join' button underneath the video.
