211 following the previous two parts where the Sensor head and a comparator stage to make sense of the result were built. in this one I add a timing circuit that can both debounce the sensor input - say coping with gaps between vehicles, and also hold the value for a short while after the train departs. useful perhaps for checking is a crossing has been cleared by a small margin. We have a look at the 555 timer that will be used for the first time on the layout, go over and build the circuit then test it on the desk and on the layout and I find a really baffing problem.. but.. in the end.. it works! a future episode will look at how to instead do this with a micro controller, but this series looks purely at an analogue solution with no programming needed that can be adjusted with a screwdriver Github link https://github.com/aleopardstail/Fraz...
