Pfiffner Traverse 2023 - Back to Reality

Another DC UL high route, this time along the Andrew Skurka's Pfiffner Traverse in the Colorado Rockies. Each year I try to bottle up the takeaways these trips have for me. Its always a struggle as they're often packed full of experience and meaning. However I think the following words from Alan Watts gets near the heart of it for me: "We are going behind words, names, numbers, beliefs and ideas to get back to the naked experience of reality itself." Though he was talking about meditation I find it also fits with my experience out there. For me these adventures are retreats back to a time when life unfolded at human (not industrial) time scales. When we had fewer distractions and simply experienced the (still) wild world around us as being "enough." For me that feels more real than most of what we encounter in our increasingly digital, online lives. And so I leave this video as a note and a reminder to myself when I inevitably get caught up in the world of illusions again.
