Italians are known for their simple and unpretentious food, but are they still considered one of the healthiest countries in the world?
The secret isn't fancy restaurants or expensive ingredients, on the contrary.
It all starts at the traditional market.
In this video, I take you shopping at a traditional market in Calabria, Southern Italy, and see how Italians choose seasonal vegetables, fresh fruit, local fish, artisan bread, and the simple ingredients that form the foundation of the Mediterranean Diet.
We'll also learn about different types of tomatoes, the Italian Friggitelli, the benefits of freshly harvested garlic, sardines as a healthy source of protein, and how to store vegetables to keep them fresh longer.
I hope this video inspires us all that healthy living doesn't have to be expensive or complicated. Sometimes, the biggest changes start with small habits when choosing ingredients.
