Psalm 61 — What I Cannot Carry “From the end of the earth I call unto You, when my heart is faint; lead me to the rock that is higher than I.” — Psalm 61:2, TS2009 “What I Cannot Carry” is a raw Indie Folk reflection on Psalm 61 and a lesson many of us spend a lifetime learning: Not everything is ours to carry. There are things that belong to us — our choices, our words, our responsibilities, our promises, the wrongs we need to make right and the way we treat the people around us. Then there are things we cannot control — another person’s heart, what tomorrow will bring, circumstances beyond our reach and burdens our hands were never capable of changing. Dawiḏ did not pretend he was strong enough for everything. When his heart grew faint, he cried to Yahweh: “Lead me to the rock that is higher than I.” Trusting Yahweh doesn’t remove our responsibility. We still have a road to walk. His Torah teaches us how to walk it with wisdom, integrity, mercy and obedience. We do what Yahweh has given us to do. And what we cannot do for ourselves, we place into His hands. Day by day.
