🌊 BOKRUG — THE DOOM THAT CAME TO SARNATH
Beneath the silent waters lies an ancient power that never forgets. Thousands of years ago, the people of Sarnath destroyed the city of Ib, slaughtered its inhabitants, and desecrated the sacred idol of Bokrug, the Great Water Lizard. They celebrated their victory, believing that no god could ever punish them.
But the depths remember.
A thousand years pass. The kingdom grows wealthy, its rulers grow arrogant, and its people feast beneath the stars. Then the lake begins to change. Strange green lights appear over the water. The sacred idol vanishes. The priests cry out in terror.
*Bokrug has awakened. And the time of judgment has come.*
This dark, epic symphonic metal anthem brings H. P. Lovecraft's terrifying legend to life through thunderous drums, crushing guitars, ominous choirs, ritualistic chants, and the desperate cries of a doomed city. From the ancient tragedy of Ib to the apocalyptic destruction of Sarnath, every verse tells the story of a crime that time could not erase.
⚔️ *The dead remember. The waters rise. The gods do not forget.*

🌊 BOKRUG — THE GREAT WATER LIZARD
Bokrug, known as the *Great Water Lizard**, is an ancient deity from the mythos of H. P. Lovecraft. He appears in Lovecraft’s short story **“The Doom That Came to Sarnath,”* written in 1919 and first published in 1920.
In the distant past, the ancient city of Ib stood beside a vast lake. Its strange, silent inhabitants worshipped Bokrug, whose image was carved into a green stone idol.
But the people of the neighboring city of Sarnath despised the inhabitants of Ib. They slaughtered them, cast their bodies into the waters, and stole the sacred idol as a trophy. Believing themselves victorious, they celebrated their conquest and forgot the ancient power they had offended.
A thousand years passed.
On the night of Sarnath’s grand celebration, strange lights appeared above the lake, and mysterious green mists rose from the waters. The sacred idol vanished, and an ancient doom descended upon the city.
*Bokrug had not forgotten.*
Sarnath was destroyed, its mighty towers vanished, and nothing remained of its former glory. The ancient god’s vengeance became a legend of pride, sacrilege, and the terrible consequences of defying powers beyond human understanding.
Bokrug represents the memory of ancient wrongs, inevitable retribution, and the indifference of cosmic forces toward human arrogance.
Inspired by H. P. Lovecraft’s “The Doom That Came to Sarnath.”
