Hello and welcome to my little corner of the internet!
Today is Day 15 of Inktober and the word prompt for today is ‘Hooray’. I decided to continue my fantasy and Lord of the Rings theme, so I drew Bilbo Baggins’ birthday cake.
Previously, I accidentally smudged the pages in my sketchbook with ink, but I didn’t want to rip out the pages. Instead, I incorporated the ink smudges into the ink illustration and turned it into chocolate icing.
In the video, I’m also talking about building up your values and creating contrast by increasing darker parts of the ink illustration. Ink illustrations are similar to watercolour paintings, where you paint from light to dark. In comparison, for oil paintings, you first add the darker values first and then add lighter and lighter shades.
Tomorrow's word prompt is ‘Gangly ’ and I think I have an idea of what I’m going to draw…
I hope to see you then!
Cheers/ Tove
