I always knew Spinning Wheel was meant to be on-disc but I didn't realise that not only was this song meant to be on-disc too, it was gonna have the full outro. In fact there were listings hinting at TTFAF and Somebody To Love as well, meaning that OGAP aside, that whole week of DLC might have been a total holdover. And even though this chart is unfinished, guitar is almost identical but they would beef up 5keys significantly and play around with drums, it just highlights how much of a rigmarole a lot of old Harmonix rhetoric was.
I forget how they talked about not snagging the outro besides saying "it's a different song, it would have required ostensibly licensing the same song twice", but even the phrasing "would have" implies they did not try because they knew what the process was ahead of time, and the existence of this chart just...kind of...disproves that? As does the Disturbed song Remnants? You didn't even know we had a song called Remnants, did you? Well it's the first 90 seconds of Asylum in-game but hey it's a whole other track on the album so that must mean they licensed an obscure Disturbed song twice over for the full experience but were blindsided by one of Santana's biggest fduafbnuasdhjfkas it's just stupid. Not to mention GH3 and Rocksmith both got away with it with no changes to the title. Rocksmith did lose The Hellion from Electric Eye...even though GH80s includes an unmarked The Hellion with Electric Eye...as does GHSH it's just fucked.
Perhaps the HMX of back then was just more righteous and didn't want to include the second half for reasons I alluded to in the description for Down To The Devil, but the Electric Ladyland Hendrix pack shows that probably wasn't the case. Whatever the case, a lot of people in that one office block in Boston MA spent a lot time alternating between overcharting and undercharting drums in the hopes of at least getting everything set up for this song, just for it to go to waste. And just now finding out there was probably meant to be some TV On The Radio song you or I have never heard of, who knows how many more man hours were thrown away on charts that will never see the light of day? And that, children, is why piracy, jailbreaking, leaks, etc. are good for the soul.
3:24 is probably close to what a proper chart of Sympathy For The Devil would look like btw
