Jan Samadhan is our MVP solution for Smart India Hackathon Problem Statement 26043: “A digital platform to crowdsource societal challenges and facilitate collaborative problem solving through universities and industry partnerships.” Jan Samadhan is designed to connect citizens, government departments, universities, students, faculty, industries, startups, MSMEs, CSR organizations, and other partners through a single digital platform. The platform enables citizens and community stakeholders to report real-world societal problems with descriptions, photographs, supporting documents, and location information. The system then validates the submitted problem, identifies missing information, categorizes it into relevant domains, detects similar problems, and helps prioritize challenges based on factors such as severity, support, evidence, and the number of people affected. Once a problem is validated, Jan Samadhan helps match it with suitable universities and industry partners based on their expertise, capabilities, facilities, and areas of interest. Universities can accept challenges, assign faculty mentors, create student teams, submit solution proposals, and track projects from In Progress to Testing and Completed. Industry partners can explore university proposals and contribute through funding, mentorship, or both. Government administrators can monitor assignments, project progress, institutional participation, industry engagement, completion rates, district-wise impact, and innovation outcomes through the dashboard. The platform also includes notifications that keep citizens, universities, industries, and government stakeholders informed throughout the problem-solving lifecycle. A key focus of Jan Samadhan is measuring real-world impact. Completed projects can record the number of people benefited, estimated cost savings, area covered, environmental impact, before-and-after evidence, and citizen satisfaction. Citizens can also provide feedback on whether the reported problem was actually solved. The complete workflow demonstrated in our MVP is: Citizen Reports Problem → AI Validation → Domain Classification → Duplicate Detection → Prioritization → University Matching → Faculty & Student Team → Solution Proposal → Industry Support → Project Development → Testing → Completion → Impact Measurement → Citizen Feedback Jan Samadhan aims to transform local societal challenges into structured opportunities for research, innovation, collaboration, and practical implementation.
