Beyond borders in the Dominican Republic and Haiti

This is the third instalment in the Global Institute for Disease Elimination's (GLIDE) new online video series, Eliminating Diseases. It provides an overview on the near elimination of lymphatic filariasis in Hispaniola, and how cooperation and working across borders is key to eliminating the disease, along with malaria, on the island shared by the Dominican Republic and Haiti. The work features The Carter Center’s Hispaniola Initiative, which, since 2008, has assisted both countries' ministries of health by strengthening binational cooperation, providing technical assistance for elimination of both diseases, and helping to integrate activities between the countries' malaria and lymphatic filariasis programs.
