Every 1 mph of bat speed your kid adds is worth about 6 feet of batted ball. Every 1 mph the pitcher throws harder is worth about 1 foot. The hitter supplies the power, six to one. "Let the pitcher supply the power" is one of the most common things said at youth fields, and physics has shown it's wrong for about twenty years.
