Is RuneScape 3 Doomed?

RuneScape Reignited might be one of the biggest changes Jagex has ever made to RuneScape 3 — and for Veteran players, it could have some serious long-term consequences. In this video, I take a closer look at the RuneFest announcement and what Reignited could mean for your existing RuneScape account, the RS3 economy, rare items, group PvM, achievements and the future of the Main Game. Reignited introduces a permanent fresh-start RuneScape experience with its own economy, Grand Exchange, Hiscores and progression. That might sound exciting — but what happens if new players, returning players and even long-time Veterans increasingly move to Reignited instead of the existing game? Could the Veteran economy slowly lose liquidity? Could group bosses become harder to organise? Could old achievements and rare items lose some of their relevance? And what happens if RuneScape 3 ends up split between two increasingly separate playerbases? That is what worries me most about Reignited. I also talk about why Reignited could be extremely attractive to new players, why success could actually be more dangerous for the Main Game than failure, and why Jagex may need to rethink how strongly Veteran and Reignited accounts are separated. What do you think? Do you think RuneScape Reignited is the future of RS3 — or could it seriously damage the Veteran game? Let me know in the comments.
