In this episode Dr. Biruk walks through the whole route to a fully funded master's at Oxford: the MSc in Applied Digital Health and how Oxford's departments and colleges work, the entry requirements and what you submit, how Oxford scores the statement of purpose, the written work and the references, the 15-minute interview, and the full timeline from application to arrival. He then explains the Mastercard Foundation Scholarship through AfOx: what it covers (full fees, a living stipend, an economy return flight, the visa and health surcharge, and a paid Ubuntu placement in Africa after the degree), who qualifies, why you never apply to Mastercard directly, and what the leadership and give-back commitment asks of you. We also cover the other funding routes at Oxford, the UK Student visa from Ethiopia, and how he actually made his decision. The next deadline: applications for October 2027 close at 12:00 midday UK time (15:00 in Addis Ababa) on Tuesday 1 December 2026. At Oxford, the course deadline is also the scholarship deadline.
