On September 3, 1967, Sweden executed the Sweden driving switch, a massive logistical maneuver to change from left to right.
The event, famously known as Dagen H, required immense preparation. Officials had to repaint thousands of road markings, install new signs, and retrain every driver in the country. It was an unprecedented overhaul of national infrastructure aimed at aligning the country with its neighbors.
While the physical logistics were tough, the true struggle was forcing millions of people to break ingrained habits. Moving to driving on the right meant overriding years of muscle memory. This strange chapter of traffic history remains one of the most ambitious national transitions ever attempted.
